Innovative Hormonal, Immunological & Nutritional Tests to Support My Holistic Treatment Approach

As a Clinical Nutritionist and Lifestyle Coach, I have innovative and precise laboratory testing carried out which is not offered within the conventional medical system. These tests help me identify the underlying root cause of illness, as well as providing tools for the prevention of disease.

If you have existing blood work, I will ask you to bring this to your first visit to avoid duplication before recommending tests for you.

Whether you seek my help in the capacity of Clinical Nutritionist, Lifestyle Coach or Natural Fertility Educator, I am careful to only recommend tests which will give unique insight into your case. An advanced lab test can often identify underlying concerns that may have previously gone undetected. Uncovering these issues in the beginning results in greatly improved outcomes.

I generally use Southern Community Laboratories Ltd for the standard range of hormonal and other general blood tests.

In addition to standard hormone testing, I also offer specialised functional pathology testing. Assessments investigate endocrine, gastrointestinal, immunological, metabolic and nutritional balance through labs such as:

  • Doctors Data
  • Precision Analytical Inc.
  • US BioTek

Tests are either completed through saliva samples, or through blood. I will provide you with a lab kit which you take to an external lab where a sample of your blood can be drawn. The samples are then shipped directly to the diagnostic lab.

Below is a range of some of the tests that I use:

Hormone Testing

DUTCH Complete Dried Urine Hormone Test

The most extensive profile of sex & adrenal hormones & their metabolites. Also includes the daily (diurnal) pattern of free cortisol, melatonin (60HMS), 8-OHdG & 6 organic acids. This unique combination of clinical information is not available by any other method.

Your body’s ability to metabolise and eliminate oestrogens plays an important role in determining your breast cancer risk. I would recommend every woman over the age of 45 takes this test to determine how effectively they are metabolising oestrogens; and what dietary and lifestyle changes are required to optimise effective metabolism.

DUTCH Cycle Mapping

Women struggling with infertility, irregular cycles or no menstrual bleeding can benefit from the DUTCH Cycle Mapping test. This profile helps evaluate hormones throughout a full menstrual cycle. Nine targeted oestrogen and progesterone measurements provide important details on a patient’s hormone levels in the follicular, ovulatory and luteal phases of the cycle. Easily collected in the comfort of your own home, samples are sent to the lab to be processed. The report provides a detailed analysis, ensuring more individualised treatment.

Adrenocortex Stress Profile

At-home salivary hormone test which evaluates the key stress hormones, cortisol & DHEA. 4 samples collected throughout the day allow for circadian rhythm assessment.

Immunological Testing

ALCAT Intolerance Tests

These tests identify adverse immune cell reactions associated with food and chemical sensitivity. This is an accurate method to evaluate the immune system’s reactions to foods following an ex vivo challenge of the white blood cells.

Results from the Alcat Test can help determine which foods and other substances may trigger unwanted inflammation and related symptoms. The Alcat Test helps me to prepare a dietary action plan for chronic health issues you may have.

IgA + IgE + IgG General and/or Vegetarian Foods

I may order one or all of these tests depending on your clinical presentation.

The IgA + IgG + IgE Western Food Panel is useful for assessing immediate and delayed reactions of 96 general western foods. It is a much quicker option than the trial of eliminating offending foods. You will receive a detailed report for identifying offending foods and a test result-based rotation diet.

Nutritional Testing

Organic Acids Test

Get a comprehensive metabolic snapshot of your overall health with over 70 markers. The Organic Acids Test (OAT) provides an accurate evaluation of intestinal yeast and bacteria. Abnormally high levels of these microorganisms can cause or worsen behaviour disorders, hyperactivity, movement disorders, fatigue and immune function. Many people with chronic illnesses and neurological disorders often excrete several abnormal organic acids in their urine. The cause of these high levels could include oral antibiotic use, high sugar diets, immune deficiencies, acquired infections as well as genetic factors.

Great Plains’ Organic Acids Test also includes markers for vitamin and mineral levels, oxidative stress, neurotransmitter levels, and is the only OAT to include markers for oxalates, which are highly correlated with many chronic illnesses.

The HbA1c blood test measures your blood glucose levels and provides an overview of the past 8 to 12 weeks.

pH Urine Testing

Measuring urine pH is a simple test to assess your total body acid or alkaline load. Having imbalanced pH levels is associated with greater risk for conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.
